Now, we are recognized as an international support group with members from around the world. We had no local support in my province for Ovarian cancer. In September 2016, I created a support group called Women of Hope Ovarian Cancer NL. I am not defined by this disease, however, I make goals and live my life. In 5 years of my diagnosis with Ovarian cancer I almost died 3 times because of chemotherapy. It's been steady treatment every since trying different chemotherapy treatments and rounds of radiation therapy. I was NED (No evidence of disease.) after having 9 rounds of chemotherapy and major surgery for 14 months and then the beast returned. My mom had surgery and chemotherapy and is now cancer free. It was a devastating diagnosis a week prior, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. On April 2nd 2015, I was diagnosed with Stage 3c high grade Epithelial Ovarian Cancer at age 48. Then ask anyone else you know who was or is affected by Ovarian Cancer to do the same. I will add this to the ovarian cancer wall in the same format as my photo is shown. How can you help me reach this goal?, it's simple, please fill out the form below and add a portrait of yourself (or your loved one) who was affected by ovarian cancer. Having a visual representation of the thousands of us affected I am confident will be very difficult to ignore. The bigger the wall the greater the impact. My goal is to build The Ovarian Cancer Wall, a collage of the faces of as many women affected by ovarian cancer as possible. There is much work for us to do to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, this disease that is taking far too many too early and for the ones it leaves behind, changing our lives in a profound way. Many of you have told me that you feel ovarian cancer is ignored, that it doesn't get the attention it needs and I agree!. Together our voices are louder but together our faces speak thousands of words.
